Wildlife of Nairobi, Kenya
Nairobi is the only capital on Earth with a full big-game national park inside its city limits — Nairobi NP holds lions, black rhinos, giraffes and buffalo against a skyline backdrop. The surrounding Athi plains and Ngong hills add cheetahs, wildebeest and huge concentrations of raptors during migration.

Dos & don'ts
Local etiquette that keeps wildlife wild.
Do
- Enter Nairobi NP at 06:00 for cats before the traffic.
- Support Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's orphan elephant nursery.
- Keep distance — use zoom or binoculars, never bait animals closer.
- Stay on marked trails to avoid trampling nests, burrows and plants.
Don't
- Don't drive off-road in the park — heavy fines apply.
- Don't bring plastic bags into Kenya — they're banned.
- Never feed wildlife — human food changes behaviour and shortens lives.
- Don't share exact locations of nests, dens or rare species online.
